Subject: marrying into the leisure class
A young woman who has grown up rich decides that she wants to marry a fine young man who has not grown up rich. He worries that she will try to make him to adapt to her leisure-class lifestyle which he could not do without losing his self-respect. A year later (1931), the movie 'Kept Husbands' (staring Joel McCrae) started out with the same basic situation, but the two plots develop in different directions.

Ann Harding and Mary Astor lead a solid cast in this first screen adaptation of Philip Barry's Broadway play. The result is an energenic and well-produced romantic drama. Remade in 1938 with Katharine Hephurn, Cary Grant and Edward Everett Horton repeating the role of Nick Potter.
Complete, glitch-free print with soft but watchable video. Good audio.
